Mt. Bachelor strives to deliver Central Oregon’s most memorable outdoor adventures to locals and out-of-town visitors on a year-round basis. Mt. Bachelor’s 365 days of fun includes 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, Woodward Mountain Park and Woodward Wrecktangle experiences, a world-class Nordic Center, summer and fall Downhill Mt. Bike Park, Sun Country Tours (white water rafting), Sunset Dinners, lift-served sightseeing, and the Northwest’s highest Zipline. The Human Resources Training and Development Specialist plays a key role at Mt. Bachelor as the leader of employee development programs including performance management, training and development, and rewards and recognition. The Training and Development Specialist assesses company-wide developmental needs and is responsible for identifying and arranging suitable training solutions for employees and for driving mountain-wide training initiatives. This position partners with managers on business needs, interacts with employees on employee relations matters, and manages projects and process improvement initiatives. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: -Exemplify behavior consistent with Mt. Bachelor's mission and values. -Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and HR Team members. Train and coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts. -Conduct annual training and development needs assessment. -Search for, design, plan, and implement training and development activities that educate, enhance performance, and deliver a positive, memorable employee experience. -Stay current with state, federal, and Mt. Bachelor/POWDR employment policies and practices while ensuring operational compliance. Offer training to ensure compliance. -Administer the performance management system and work with the HR team to maintain and/or enhance program integrity. -Operate within the department budget for all training, development, and engagement programs. -Responsible for a variety of employment-related communications including those related to policy development and documentation, training programs, and training materials to ensure employees are aware of opportunities and resources. -With other members of the HR Team, responsible for employee relations, accommodations, investigations, coaching, and delivering related manager and supervisor training. -Provide managers and supervisors support in dealing with challenging employment situations. -Assist with full-cycle recruitment for salaried positions and special recruiting projects. -Oversee organization-wide engagement programs. -Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. Specific Job Skills: -License/Certifications: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential and/or other related certification are preferred. SHRM Certified Professional and/or other related certifications are valuable in this role. -Technical: Advanced base of computer operation skills with the foundation to learn new programs. In-depth understanding of Microsoft Office, with advanced use of Excel. Depth of knowledge of all ADP programs a plus. Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Able to evaluate and research training options and alternatives. Able to design and implement effective training and development. -Additional: Ski area (or related field such as retail, hospitality) experience. Customer service skills. Strong communication and public speaking skills are paramount, able to present in front of large groups with impact and influence. Conflict resolution and employment investigation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Education/Related Experience: Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. One year experience designing and implementing employee development programs. Minimum time in related position: Minimum two years' work experience in high-touch customer facing role, with responsibility for managing large amounts of information and data required.
