Presentation: Mid-Year Labor and Employment Law Update

Why save our entire 2021 legal update for the fall?  Let’s get started early!  With the Oregon legislature actively considering some game-changing new laws--and with constant changes coming from the federal government--it’s time for a mid-year update.  Current Oregon and federal legal and legislative updates, as well as key court decisions since our last HRACO update (in October 2020) will be reviewed.

HRACO will still offer a full 2021 legal round up in the fall.  For now, join this session to make sure you’re in compliance and up-to-date on the latest legal changes and how they impact HR!

Speaker:   Kurt Barker, Karnopp Petersen LLP

A partner at Karnopp Petersen LLP, Kurt serves as Chair of his firm’s Employment Law department. He is the current Legislative Affairs Chair of HRACO (and a past President of its board), and also serves on the boards of the Oregon Employer Council’s Central Oregon Chapter and Volunteers in Medicine. Kurt has been representing employers in all aspects of the employment relationship for 20 years, including counseling regarding terminations and medical issues, drafting handbooks and contracts, conducting anti-harassment and other trainings, helping employers avoid claims, and defending them before agencies and in state and federal courts. Since 2012, peers repeatedly have selected Kurt for listing in Best Lawyers in America for his work in Management-side Employment Law and Labor and Employment Litigation. www.karnopp.com
