Summary of Presentation

The COVID pandemic has created the largest global transformation in work practices in recent history. Most notable is the shift to remote work, but this isn’t the only change that has occurred. Companies have also had to rethink long-established practices related to staffing, office design, employee wellbeing and talent management. Many changes utilize technology that has been available for years but that was not extensively used prior to the pandemic. There are indications that these new practices may also be increasing employee engagement and productivity.

This presentation draws on qualitative examples and quantitative data collected since March 2020 to discuss changes in work practices that arguably should have been adopted by companies well before the pandemic forced it upon them. We will explore how COVID is getting companies to challenge questionable work assumptions based on beliefs that date back to the 20th century and that are not longer true in the modern digital era.

Dr. Hunt is an industrial-organizational psychologist and recognized expert on strategic human resources. He has over 25 years’ experience designing systems for a variety of human capital management applications including performance management, staffing, employee and leadership development, culture change, workforce analytics and succession planning.
